Of The Deep Mermaid Anthology - finished June 24, 2018

Of The Deep Mermaid Anthology by K.M. Robinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had never read anything in a Mermaid genre before seeing this anthology. I enjoyed the writing styles of both K. M. Robinson, and Elle Beaumont. Their stories held twists and turns that sparked my interest. I hope to delve into more of the Siren Wars in the future.

Chosen: Curse of the Draekon Book One (Volume 1) - finished June 28, 2018

Chosen: Curse of the Draekon Book One by Samantha Britt

My Rating: 5 of 5 stars!!!!! Fantastic start to a series that holds great promise! While the beginning of the story was a bit slow to start, I was soon caught up in the tangle of Lissa's life. The story is finely crafted; weaving in family ties, class struggles, rebellion, romance, and mystical characters. The ending leaves me wanting more! I can't wait for book 2!

Cascading Petals - finished on June 29, 2018

Cascading Petals by Jane C. Brady
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Cascading Petals centers around high school bullying, and the far reaching effects. It also explores the pressures of school status, and teen relationships. With so many important issues, I really wanted to love this book, but I struggled with it. The changing POV left all the characters lacking in development. Too often I felt the narrative was from the perspective of an adult woman reflecting on her past experiences, not an actual teenager.

I love to read.  Always have, and pretty sure I always will.

My favorites genre is historical fiction/fantasy.  I enjoy reading YA books, as they are what my students are reading.

This blog is going to be a spot to share my reviews of my summer reading.
